Course Content

This is an introductory level course

While monitoring organisational risk is important, your business is also impacted by how you manage the more everyday risks. Whether it's fire safety or tripping hazards in the workplace or assessing the safety of venues for events, it is important to have the right systems in place. Similarly when you are working with children or vulnerable adults, you need a robust system in place to identify what might go wrong, where the danger lies, and have procedures to deal with any problems.

Specifically, we will be looking at:

  • Taking a risk-based approach
  • Having the right policies and procedures in place
  • Risk assessment: health & safety risks - the basics for your business
  • Risk assessing events and venues;
  • Risk assessing individuals and identifying needs; people with challenging behaviour
  • Training and protocols for staff and volunteers
  • Monitoring risk management; especially near misses
