Knowing what their role entails and what they are responsible for, is crucial for Trustees. This taster session will go through the Charity Commission’s Guidance The Essential Trustee: What you need to know, what you need to do (Charity Commission Leaflet CC03). This course covers: 

  • Who can and can’t be a Trustee 
  • How to Comply with your charity’s governing document and the law 
  • Acting in your charity’s best interests and managing its resources responsibly 
  • What it is to act with reasonable care and skill 
  • How to ensure accountability 


This course is suitable for anyone who is a Trustee of an organisation in the charity sector or who is thinking of becoming one.
