This is a Taster session, suitable for everyone.

There are some policies and procedures that all groups and organisations need. These set out how the main risky areas are dealt with and what to do in case a problem arises. This is one area where groups often don’t have anything in place – and that’s a problem, especially for the Trustees who have a legal responsibility to manage the organisation properly. This free taster session will help you to understand what are the most important policies to have and how to get started.

This session, which was recorded in January 2022, covered:

  • What are policies and procedures
  • Which are the “must have” policies and why
  • The steps for creating and implementing a policy and procedure (briefly)
  • Where to find good templates for your organisation

This course is a brief introduction leading on the training courses which cover all of the main policies in depth and how to implement them at your organisation. It is suitable for anyone – you don’t have to have any prior knowledge of policies.

Feedback survey Please note that there is a short feedback survey included with this course and we would appreciate your thoughts.

We aim to provide as much free, accessible material as possible. DCA offers courses free or at lower cost where we have obtained funding or sponsorship Some resources are offered on a paid-for basis so that we can cover our costs and continue to provide this material to community groups, charities or social companies. We are able to offer a lower price to DCA members because of the membership fees they have paid. (Please do not click on the discounted rate unless you are sure that your organisation is a member.)
