Martin is clear that the best starting point for Village Halls getting involved in low carbon work, is to find out about the wider issues and to look at a range of sources. Each organisation and interest group approaches the issues from a different view-point.

Martin talks about the networks that can enable Village Halls to get involved, not only key organisations like Zero Carbon Dorset or Dorset Climate Action Network, but the wildlife organisations such as RSPB or the Dorset Trust. There are also organisations such as Oxfam or Unicef working on the social and economic issues, in Britain and world-wide, that are inextricably linked to environmental issues.

A great idea at the start of planning what you are going to do, Martin says, is to do an environmental audit of the whole village - not only its impacts, but what resources does it have?

Martin talks about Friends of the Earth's resource 20 Things you can do and you will find that in the resources area for this project.
