This is an Intermediate level course

Having the right policies and procedures in place is fundamental to the day-to-day running of a group or VCSE organisation. There are some which every organisation needs to think about such as GDPR and Health & Safety and some which become more relevant as the organisation grows. This session will go through: 

 

  • The difference between policies, procedures and protocols 
  • Taking a risk-based approach 
  • The different types of policies and procedures typically needed by organisations and when they occur 
  • Finding good templates and examples 
  • The five steps for creating a policy: 
  • Understand the legal context thoroughly 
  • Make a decision on what you believe 
  • Decide what procedures will work in your organisation & implement them 
  • Write it all up 
  • Agree – Review – Agree 
  • Implementing procedures effectively

 

This course follows on from the Taster Session on the Mandatory Policies. The course on Managing Risk is also useful as background.
