Risk management is a key task for an organisation. The Charity Commission advises that:
"Identifying and managing the possible and probable risks that a charity may face over its working life is a key part of effective governance for charities of all sizes and complexity. "
This course, sponsored by Dorset Council will take you through the whole process from identifying the organisational risks, to deciding on mitigation arrangements to using the Risk Management Plan to inform your planning in other areas such as policies & procedures or business continuity planning.
It will cover:
- Why risk management is important
- Types of risks organisations face; governance, operational, financial, external & compliance – and “acts of god”
- Risk management planning; identification, assessment, mitigation and monitoring
- Business continuity planning
- Next steps and actions
There is a work book to accompany this video that details the exercises that you are asked to do.
DCA will be doing more work on risk analysis and risk management later in the year.
